This notice covers the urdad.org web site and its trial and contact forms. It is written to meet South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, for visitors in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Visiting the site
The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising trackers, and loads nothing from any other site. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your own browser and never sent to us.
Like any web server, ours records each request — the address it came from, the page asked for and the time — to keep the site secure and running. That log is deleted after 14 days.
When you send a form
The trial and contact forms ask only for what we need to answer you: your name and email address, and on the trial form your organisation, role, country and what you would like to achieve. We use these details only to reply to you and, for a trial, to arrange it. We do so because you ask us to and consent to it when you send the form.
What you send is kept on our server in South Africa, and a copy is emailed to our own mailbox so that we can answer it; Who else holds it, below, says where that mailbox is. To stop the forms being abused, the address a submission comes from is held in memory for ten minutes and never written down.
We keep a submission for 12 months, then delete it automatically. We do not sell or share it, and no decision about you is made automatically.
Your rights
You may ask to see what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted at any time, and you may withdraw your consent. Write to contact@urdad.org; we answer within two working days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za) or, in the European Union, to your national data protection authority.
Who else holds it
Hostinger hosts our mailbox, contact@urdad.org, and so holds a copy of every message the forms send us. It keeps them in the United States (California), on our behalf, to host that mailbox and for nothing else.
Sending a form therefore transfers what you send outside South Africa. We do so with your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form after reading this notice. The data protection law of the country it goes to may not protect it as fully as POPIA or the GDPR do, and the authorities there may be able to require access to it. The same holds for anything you email to contact@urdad.org directly.
